Thread: Hank & Ellie Who: Hank McCoy & Eleanor Roseveldt When: Late Tuesday evening, May 20, 2008 Where: A park bench in Salem Center What: Hank and Ellie have had a nice dinner together and she's got a few things to tell him about her little science projects. Other than that I don't know where this will go. NOTE: I've just moved this thread to say that it's happening now because ... it got all lost in the shuffle with Rory going back to the UK and all!
Spending time with Eleanor was a delight, and it happened far too infrequently. She was the only person from his childhood (save his parents) with whom he had any kind of relationship, and the idea that they could reminisce about their high school days was positively bizarre----as was the fact that she'd apparently had a massive crush on him on high school. Well! Who knew that "Magilla Gorilla" would end up taking on some distinctly more gorilla-like qualities as he aged?
Ellie didn't seem to be bothered by it. It had shocked her at first, because there was no way on God's green earth that it wouldn't shock her, but she seemed to be fine with it now, seemed to be fine that he went out in public "like that" and everyone in Salem Center knew him. He was polite, he was friendly, and really now, who could hate Hank McCoy? Big, blue, hairy, scary, whatever, who could hate him? He was a perfect mutant ambassador.
They'd talked about a lot of things over a simple dinner at Simone's cafe. High school, your basic politics, Ellie's children, Peter and Mary Jane's wedding three weeks ago-----which Hank had performed beautifully, thankyouverymuch----and now the check was paid, the seats were pushed in, and they'd left the restaurant to take a walk before settling down on a quiet park bench. Salem Center was an idyllic place, really. It was a shame Eleanor was working as some kind of spy against the Brotherhood and was working undercover. He would have liked her company at the school, and would have liked it very much if she didn't end up dead.
"You still haven't explained to me what, exactly, you're doing----advancing medical science and the like. Some massive breakthrough that you're keeping a Brotherhood secret. Ellie."
That was unacceptable! No secrets in science. Science knew no political or ideological boundaries. Really now, Eleanor. If she didn't tell him flat-out he might have to resort to other tactics. Reverse psychology, or... flashing a nipple, or something. He did that little pheromone-manipulation thing, too, from time to time. But that was cheating.
