early-dated thread: Kasey, Aubrey...and Mark
Who: Kasey Gibson, Aubrey Ryan, and Mark Gibson Where: one of those awesome Xavier's courtyards When: tomorrow, April 9th, 2008. Um, afternoon. What: Kasey's brother has finally come because her family hasn't seen her in what feels like years and America is effed up so she might be le ded. Also, he needs to approve the boyfriend, d'uh.
Mark wasn't entirely sure what time it was, but he could tell from Kasey's expression he should probably get out of bed. It wasn't his fault. He was exhausted, suddenly not in Japan, and frankly a bit emotionally torn about being here. He needed to check up on his sister for his family, but he wanted himself (and her) out of America.
But first, apparently, he was to meet this boyfriend of hers.
They went down to a courtyard behind the mansion, and if nothing else, Mark had to admit at least she seemed to be living well.
"A bit fancy, eh, Kaze? What're they lettin' you stay here for?"
She punched him slightly on the shoulder as she took a seat on the bench next to him. "I am a vital part of this place. I'm a nurse, you know."
"If you ever finish your bloody school. How's that going, eh?" Which was a little below the belt, and her expression showed it, but Mark only felt slightly guilty for bringing it up. It was true, she hadn't exactly been dealing with school since the entire country shut down. No one had, to be fair, but that didn't make her failure to graduate when she wanted any less real.
Stretching out, Mark changed the subject. "So this bloke of yours...he's American?" Grandma wouldn't like that.
"Yeah, from up...over...somewhere in Massachusetts. He's a nice guy, Markie."
"I'm sure he's perfectly brill, Kay...but he's deaf...and you don't sign, right?" Has to go bring realism into this.
Kasey resisted the urge to pout like a little girl, and just shook her head a little. "I'm learning."
"Oh, I'm sure you are, mate, I'm just saying..." Well, he didn't have to actually say it. He was skeptical about the relationship, both for those reasons and the simple fact that he was her big brother, and in some respects, almost like her father. This was the inevitable family grilling.
