Re: PULSE!
David never really realized how omnipresent his mutation was until it stopped. He wasn't a telepath, but having an ability that dealt with the mind meant that he could normally ... feel ... those minds around him. Not enough to be useful in any real sense, just a psionic presence in the back of his mind. That vanished, as an odd thrumming pulse swept across the area. If Postman had been the sort of man to swear, he would have started at that point.
Instead, he continued to charge the woman, hoping that whatever had affected him would hit her as well, give him a momentary advantage. He thought for a moment that it might have worked - she seemed off-kilter, surprised, and he moved to throw the punch, except that she hit him before he could hit her. Before he knew it, David found himself caught up in an immensely powerful grip. He was, granted, a strong man, but she made him seem feeble in comparison. Ribs began to ache, air was expelled from his lungs as she compressed the area, making it nearly impossible to breathe.
If this was how she was without powers, David was very glad he'd avoided her the first time. His arms were useless at his sides, he was running out of air -- only one option available, and he took it, stepping down hard to crush her instep.
