Julius had never exactly been strong in school, but something from a distant science class came back to him now - something about actions, and equal and opposite reactions. And while normally the speed of his flight would have given him momentum, there were downsides to being literally weightless; he had no force behind anything, which meant that when the X-Man's beam burst out forwards, the same amount of force shot them both backwards with nothing to counter it. Except, of course, for the wall he found himself crushed against, several hundred feet behind them.
The strength of the impact, combined with just not wanting to hold him any longer, made Helio let go of Cyclops, letting him fall the give or take two stories to the ground. Too bad they hadn't been higher, the fall might have killed. Ah well - for the moment, worrying about prying himself out of the building and praying the massive pain he felt didn't mean any broken bones was more important.
