Narrative (or Thread): Wolfsbane
Who: Rahne Sinclair (and open)
When: Evening of March 1st
Where: Rahne's room, Xavier's School
What: Rahne takes advantage of the school being somewhat empty to go for a decent run.
The school seemed much quieter than usual. She'd felt fairly awkward at dinner since she was able to pick up on some of what people were saying just from having sharper-than-normal hearing. Apparently, Mr. Summers was gone or kidnapped or something? She hadn't been able to hear everything, though, and since she had been brought up to not ask questions of Adults, she didn't think to check with anyone, not even the other children at the school. She finished her dinner quickly, excused herself to whoever was listening and went up to her room.
All of her homework was finished, except for her maths (as usual) so she considered reading one of the books she'd borrowed from the library. She sat down on her bed and picked up the copy of "Six Wives of Henry VIII" but couldn't seem to concentrate on it. Instead, she kept looking out of the window and wanting to go Wolf and run for as long as she could. After trying to read for maybe twenty minutes, she finally decided to actually go for the run and put the book back on her desk.
Slipping out of her clothes, she took a moment to fold them up neatly, then closed her eyes and concentrated. The prickle/tickle of fur growing and the odd sensation of stretching caused her to smile, not to mention the fact that her senses started going insanely sensitive. Once everything felt right, she opened her eyes and did her usual check. She had an odd not-quite-fear that some day she'd change, and everything would go Wrong. She'd have no fur or instead of having canine legs, she'd have cloven hooves or something like that. Everything seemed fine this time, though, and she wagged her tail in relief.
She padded over to where her normally far-too-big-for-her dressing gown was hanging and pulled it on, growling happily as she picked up the scent of her mum from it. She'd been here almost a month now, and Moira's scent was still a part of the dressing gown. The tie was fastened tightly and she checked herself in the mirror. Even though she was entirely covered in red-brown fur, she was still self-conscious enough to feel the need to cover up if she wasn't fully wolven.
Now all she had to do was make it down to the ground floor, slip outside and hide somewhere so she could take off the dressing gown and change fully, and she'd spend a couple of hours running round the school grounds. It was as close to Heaven-on-Earth as she could think of.
