Who: Luke Cage, Carmilla Black, and OT Felicia Hardy. When: Feb 7th, Night time. Where: Frat house near Columbia University. What: Heroes for Hire infiltrate a small frat party after discovering it may be linked to the FoH and to the disappearances of numerous mutant college students.
The Friends of Humanity were proving to be very elusive. Either that, or Luke just wasn't cut out for detective work. It might have been a combination of both. Heroes for Hire; now plural thanks to the green haired addition to the outfit, had been partially successful in attracting some clients that required odd jobs done here and there, but word regarding the FoH was scarce. That was until a college girl by the name of Claire Mills disappeared, warranting her mother's trip down to Harlem in an effort to seek Luke's help. Evidently Claire was a mutant, something she and her family had kept hidden for some time.
Initially the case was something Luke had looked into by himself, figuring that it might just have been another dispute between mother and daughter and that he probably wasn't going to find the girl's whereabouts. He was just muscle, not a tracker, or at least he thought. It'd turn out that Luke didn't give himself nearly enough credit, because after only a day or two of hanging around Campus; where someone of his age and sense of style fit in just perfectly, he'd managed to get some leads from the other students. Luke wound up being better suited for the case than some experienced, old private investigator. The students were a lot more approachable when they thought Luke was a student as well, and it lead to rumors which then solidified into hard facts after he convinced some frat punk to spill what he knew about the girl the best way he knew how, intimidation.
The Friends of Humanity's influence was starting to spread, and though it wasn't completely obvious on the outside, their poison was starting to seep into Columbia University. More specifically, it had seeped into a small fraternity. From what he had shook ( and beat ) out of his source, they'd started looking for mutant girls that went to the University, luring them to small, close knit gatherings or parties. Claire had attended one of these parties, and now she was missing. Luke now found himself standing across from the Beta Theta Phi frat house, dressed in jeans, a gray T-shirt and a brown bomber jacket with wool lining its collar.
It'd been a long time since he'd gone to a party, but never had he crashed one. That was something the cops did. He'd watch as a few burly guys who looked like they could be linebackers on a football team walked in with a girl. For a Frat party, the house didn't seem to have all that many occupants, and the girl to guy ratio was severely lacking, but maybe that was how they took advantage of the mutant girls they invited over. He wasn't alone on this outing, and he wouldn't have dared to even try if there was a chance he'd run into some FoH recruits. Not because he was scared of them, but rather he wouldn't want to face Carm's if she found out he went out to take down some mutant hating scum bags without her.
Anti-mutant hating zealots he could take, a pissed of female was something else entirely.
" No telling how many mutant girls are in there right now. I guess we can crash the party and start pounding skulls, "
His eyes shot back to the house, where two of said burly frat boys were now posted as makeshift bouncers. He could take them no problem, but then that might start a commotion before they wanted to.
" ..Or you can flirt your way in there, scope it out, and then call me in when it's time to start breaking bones. Your call, Carm. "
