"Depends," she said, only half paying attention. Though she didn't say what it depended on. "Where the hell is the sage," she added, mostly to herself. Melody clearly didn't find Spencer harmful, or else she would have been paying attention to him, if only to keep an eye on him. The fact that she was practically brushing him off spoke volumes.
Granted, she didn't know what his mutation was. If she'd known that he could shapeshift into dragons and giant snakes she might have been a little more cautious around him. But Melody wasn't really used to dealing with other mutants, so she usually didn't think to consider what sorts of devasting powers they could be packing.
"It's a good thing you showed up." Melody grabbed a handful of plastic shopping bags from behind the counter. She didn't want to have to make this sort of trip again if she didn't have to and the entire store was hers for the taking right now. Shoving the bags at him, she ordered, "Here. Take whatever you can. It'll probably come in handy one of these days."
