"Oh, I know I can." Liam said with some confidence. "Just may take a bit." Though, he was hesitant himself about taking a lengthy break, after all there was no telling how long he'd have control of the body.
Once they'd had a rest and some food- Liam actually took a short twenty minute nap as he was very drained, the three of them were ready to try again. "Okay... close your eyes."
Liam pulled them into the mindscape again and found that thread again before it could latch onto TJ. They jumped from memory to memory, Liam followed the string tied to TJ and used JJ to fill in the gaps. Each memory TJ seemed to remember more and more. At one point Liam lost count, but he could feel the web getting more and more unraveled. However, with each new loosened thread, the tighter the rest seemed to get.
He was about ready to call it when a new memory came up. JJ gasped and put her hand over her mouth. The two of them were once again on the side of a road, a small campfire was burning and they were talking about hitting Vegas and all the fun stuff they'd do when they got there. Liam could tell from JJ's thoughts that this was it, this was her last memory of TJ.
The young woman yawned and laid down in her sleeping bag, a folded jacket under her head for a pillow. The audio seemed to fade in and out as she drifted off to sleep. Then, the scene froze. Liam looked to Zero. "You still with me?" He held out a hand, he knew they were all a bit drained, he'd lost track of time a long time ago- unbeknownst to them it was well into the evening in the real world. "Remember, you can't really be hurt in here. It's all in your mind. And that's what we need now. Can't you feel it? It's weak. JJ doesn't remember what happened next... she wasn't there... you were. What happened next?" He asked, mentally pushing as TJ's mind. "What happened next?" He took a step forward and the two of them seemed to trade places as Liam let TJ take control of the mindscape for the moment. "Show us." He knew this meant that he might be the one attacked by whatever was keeping Zero's memories tied up, but he'd take that risk. They'd come too far.
