"Alex!" She moved up to him when she saw him appear, her hands reaching out to... she wasn't sure. JJ glanced toward the basement when he mentioned it and then back. She placed a hand on the side of his face that wasn't injured, a tear trickled down from her eye as she realized he'd been hurt because of her. "I'm so sorry." This was not the outcome she'd expected. TJ knew how to fight, but he hadn't really ever been violent. Defensive sure, but to beat up someone clearly not as strong as him? Had he really changed that much? What had happened in the last three years? Was it the reason he hadn't tried to find her? "Thank you." She found herself giving him a quick hug before turning to the basement door.
The light was off, so she turned on the switch before slowly moving down the steps. "TJ?" She said cautiously. "I'm sorry my friend... scared you..." JJ wasn't sure that was the right phrase for this situation but it was the best she had. "I'm... I'm coming down, and I swear I'm unarmed." She had left her backpack upstairs and slowly descended the stairs, arms held up a little.
