He chuckled softly, but some part of Draco was shocked that this wasn't hurting her more. If he weren't so incredibly overwhelmed, it would hurt. He knew he'd feel it later, or at some point when it was least expected. But right now? Draco didn't feel anything other then perhaps disappointment in himself, that he couldn't make this work.
"I'm stopping this society crap," he used her term lightly with amusement in his voice despite their topic of conversation, "for a while, at least. I need to ground myself, get back into what I wanted to start doing when I applied for the Auror training programme. I lost track of that somewhere down the road, I think." He smiled wearily, sipping at his coffee again.
"Just promise me one thing, Ginny? Keep your brothers off me, would you?" he remarked jokingly. "They're brilliant, the lot of them, and that's quite a bit coming from a Malfoy now, wouldn't you agree? I'd...like to stay friends, if it's possible. Merlin knows I could use a few right now. I...probably just turned away one of my best friends earlier this afternoon."
