"We know. And we don't want to force it on you." But it would loom on the horizon of their relationship. Josh only hoped that with enough time, they'd figure something out. "We love and respect you and your decisions. And we know you feel the same. It's going to take some time, but we'll figure it out. We don't want to lose you. You're part of us. But, if when the time comes..." He couldn't bring himself to say it. "We'll always be here for you," he said instead. "I want you to know that. No matter what. We'll always be here. Don't you dare hesitate. I'll never forgive you."
He would, but that wasn't the point.
He didn't like being part of Josh's suffering. He didn't like knowing he brought it upon him. That he failed to save him from the loneliness. That he couldn't be enough if he had to be - even when he knew deep down, he'd always fail.
