Lizzy giggled in a manner that few people ever saw before turning her head and catching his lips in a sloppy kiss. It was amazing, this ability to feel light. After the war she'd thought she'd never feel this way again, like everything happy and good and real in her and dried up and shriveled away to nothing. But here she was, here they were, happy and good and real.
"Caroline will notice and come and join us in bed," she said after she pulled her lips away. "And not in the fun way that you're imagining."
