Terry let his eyes scan over the contents of the case and tried not to let himself be overwhelmed. This was far, far too important a decision to allow himself to intimidated away due to the overwhelming possiblities.
Some of the rings were easy to dismiss as they were too big or too small; too gaudy or too plain. When an eager sales clerk showed up to hover, he was highly tempted to hide behind Mandy. "Just looking, thank you," he said swiftly.
"Yes, sir," the clerk said, "just wave when you and your girl decide on what you'd like to get a closer look at."
Terry almost choked. "She's just a friend. My girl's blonde and yay tall and gorgeous."
