Xavier Yaxley wasn't exactly amused about being kept waiting. He was a busy man and he'd been told that Audrey Travers would be waiting for him at nine am to accept his proposal. Xavier wasn't at all interesting in marrying, really, but his return to England had caused the MLE to start sniffing around him and alignment with another of the pureblood families would help to keep him safe.
Plus it didn't hurt that Audrey Travers had legs for days and hated him viscerally. Both would make doing his husbandly duties in the bedroom so much more entertaining.
But it wasn't the delectable Miss Travers who emerged from within the Travers family townhouse, it was William Rosier. So the rumors were true and Audrey did like to show those boys she'd always been surrounded with a good time behind closed doors. He'd have to put a stop to that. Xavier couldn't help smirking at the idea of how little she'd like being told what she could and could not do. He could almost feel his fingers tightening into those long golden locks as he tossed her around until she saw that doing things his way was going to be easier.
He ignored Rosier's gruffness. Even if William was attached to Audrey, no smart girl was going to disobey her family's wishes. Especially not if it meant choosing a third born son over the Yaxley heir. "I'm here to see Miss Travers, not you Rosier," she said snidely. "As you're not her and this isn't your home, I've no interest in your opinions about when I should come and go. Is she still in bed?" He took a step towards and door behind Rosier and smiled in a way that made evident exactly what Audrey and bed made him think of. "Shall I go wake her?"
