Jessica looked down at their twined fingers while he spoke, squeezing his gently. When he was finished, or at least when he'd stopped speaking, she brought her eyes up to meet his.
"I didn't realize it was that big of a thing with her," she said quietly. "I have no second thoughts, don't worry, and I'd do it the same if I'd known..." She sighed. "Rambling. Sorry. Look, if she boots me from her team because of us, then whatever, some things are more important. Anything else she can think up, I'll be able to handle."
She folded her arm under her head like a pillow. "You're right, though. She should know."
