Charlie was ready to sing praises in songs for Lindsay. When he'd first arrived back home, the sheer size of the stacks of papers he'd been given had made him feel queasy, and it he knew it would take him a month or more to sort through everything. With Lindsay's help, they'd defeated the piles in just a few days.
He had made sure not to make it feel like work or like he expected much from her. Instead of chugging through the papers, he made a point to relax, chat with her, and to always have food and drink available to them. They had laughed as they worked, and Charlie had told her many stories about the dragons he'd worked with in Romania, and his quirky Romanian roommate.
Charlie waited outside of the Leakey on Wednesday, his hair shining brilliantly red in the early morning light. "Ahoy!" he called out to her rather cheerfully. Lorcan had pushed his buttons, but it would take a lot more than that to drag Charlie down. He was excited to share a dragon with one of his London friends for the first time, and thought that Lindsay, if anyone, deserved the rewarding experience of meeting a practically infant dragon.
