Theo smiled when Daphne turned around to let him put the necklace on for her. Once he'd gotten it clasped together again, he ran his hands down her shoulders before she turned back around to face him. It was as beautiful on her as he expected it be and he was happy that it would no longer be sitting shut up in a box somewhere with no one to wear it.
Maybe all the candles and lanterns weren't such a good idea after all, because Theo was certain Daphne wouldn't fail to notice that his eyes were glistening as she looked up at him, but he was determined not to outright cry in front of her. He was being silly, but it made him happy that Daphne was willing to accept this gift from him and in turn honor his mother's memory for him.
After she kissed him, he nodded once at her words. "I love you, too, Daphne."
Swallowing hard, he finally looked down to the table beside them. "Are you hungry?"
