Meaghan froze, eyes wide like saucers, and shining with her tears. She blinked a few times, her eyelashes still heavy and wet from her cry. "What?" she said, a bit stupidly. And then he started explaining and she couldn't even breathe. Relief washed over her like she was doused with water.
"Oh Godric, Charlie!" she cried, sitting back, her face red again. "I thought you were saying you couldn't do THIS. You and me! I didn't-oh Merlin," she said, covering her face with her hands, this time so she could laugh. Her shoulders shook at first, and no sound came out, and then her whole body shook and her breath was nearly gone. "Charlie," she said between laughs, "I..."
And then she threw her arms around his neck and hugged him, fingers curling in his hair. "Oh Charlie, I would never judge you for not being able to. It's a lot of work, and I've been so worried about how stressed you are. I wouldn't think less of you, not ever," she said into his neck, her body still shaking in a mixture of giddiness and relief.
