Meaghan laughed, petting Persephone even more. "Yeah...kittens are like that. Most of mine are still a bit needy and they're far from kittens. But I prefer slightly annoying and loving to indifferent," she said, looking at him, and then blushing. "You know, where cats are concerned," she finished, lamely, hoping he didn't notice her blush. She followed the kitten scampering away with her eyes before turning her attention back to Charlie.
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that," Meaghan said, her voice full of concern. He walked toward the living room and flopped on the couch, which Meaghan took as a sign to follow. She sat down gingerly on the other side of the couch, drawing a leg under her.
"I'm sorry, Charlie. I saw about the dragon in China. I don't know if there's anything I can do to help with...anything. You know I would." She dared to look at him, her eyes full of more worry than she probably wanted to give away.
