"What? You're not trying to convince me you can hold your alcohol, are you?" he grinned. "I have some biscuits or other someplace.. but uh.. let me order from that restaurant and we can go get it in a few. Chinese? No. Let's do the curry." He winked at Dorcas, pushed himself up and trekked across the room to the small corner table.
He picked up the phone receiver. The best part about coming from a squib/muggle family was that Ronin was very tuned in with electronics and muggle workings. No, his tv set didn't work because of the magical interference of his wards, but the phone line was much more stable and worked most days, depending on the amount of magical will Ronin was exuding in his research. All that aside, he dialed the number from memory and barked out a short order for meals for the both of them. Of course, this was without asking Dorcas what she wanted.. he just assumed she'd let him take the lead on it. Oh well.
Hanging up the phone, he pivoted to face her again. "We'll head out in about ten minutes and get it. It's pretty good. I'll miss this food the most, really."
He shrugged, retook his seat and watched her. "My life is a series of random and unfortunate happenstances. But worth it. In 93, I had taken the year off from teaching.. and went out to China to study with this Master and help a couple of old friends out with this Imperialist Vampire. That was the fifth time in my life that I had been minutes to death."
