Entry tags:!ic-ooc, character: dean thomas, character: flora carrow, character: harry potter, character: josephine dorny, character: neville longbottom

WHO: All 7th Years and recent grads of Hogwarts, along with any of Harry's friends and other Quidditch players (but no older adults allowed)
WHERE: A swanky London hotel bungalow suite
WHEN: Backdated to Saturday night
WHAT: End of the summer party time
RATING: Please keep it under NC-17
STATUS: Open, IC/OOC

After a summer of training and getting into the best physical shape possible, Harry was ready to party. Summer hols were coming to an end for everyone going back to Hogwarts, and the start of the Quidditch season was fast approaching. Harry wouldn't have much time for parties like these once it did, and he wanted to go out with a bang.

He'd procured enough alcohol to keep everyone happy, and the bungalow he'd rented had enough levels and rooms to entertain everyone. Music (both wizarding and Muggle) pulsated on the main floor, kept from the other guests by silencing charms, and the party was well underway. Everywhere he looked, people were talking, laughing, drinking, dancing, and he smirked to himself. A job well-done, if he did say so himself.

Dean needed to get away. It was true that the boys were still planning on going in on that house together and giving it a go, but until that happened, Dean was still stuck at home around his sisters. All of his sisters. Sure, he had junior league football, which he enjoyed, but that was kids. And the time spent at the Dancing Bear was good too, but it wasn't like that counted as a social life. As a bartender, he was required to talk to people and listen to people but those people weren't his friends.

He ducked into the suite and gave Harry a nod. "You're a good man, Harry Potter. Just what I needed." And by what he needed, he meant being round his friends and not the whole alcohol thing. Because, as anyone who knew Dean knew, he didn't drink.

Part of him was a bit worried, though, that if Ginny or Vicky showed up, things might get awkward. He just didn't want that to happen.

Flora will have turned up to the party, her confidence much boosted by the relative success of going to Summerby's party a few days before. Parties without many Slytherins weren't quite so bad after all, although this time, she did bring Josie along with her. After all, there were more than just Gryffindors and people their own age theere - who knows what the future might bring?

She won't have been as all-get-out-as at parties thrown by her usual circle, keeping her outfit simple - a pretty summery dress and heeled sandals. She'll have mingled and greeted students/recent graduates first, then chatted to other people.

Josie spent a lot of time buggingtalking to Flora. Unless Flora was approached by boys, then she'd back off ;)

Precisely the main reason Flora thought the party would be a good idea ;)

Arriving with Flora, dressed in purple with a pair of gold heels, Josie was a little nervous. It was something a little less formal than usual, but still up to her usual standards. The dress wasn't the issue so much as the company. As much as she liked being the centre of attention and the life of the party, it was a bit more difficult to do so when surrounded by loads of people she didn't particularly know. It was so much easier at Slytherin parties. Still, she did intend to have a good time, and for all she knew Zach might actually make it, so it was worth a shot, at least.

Leaving Flora briefly get them something to drink, Gwen made her way toward the refreshments table. She hoped Flora wasn't going to be the only person she knew here, but then making new friends could be fun, right? Grabbing a cup, Josie paused as she tried to decide what she felt like drinking.

Ginny and Whoever the Hell wants to talk to her

Once she had made her decision about quidditch and school, Ginny's attitude and her outlook had both lightened up a bit. She had spent the last two weeks in a sort of haze, the lingering doubt about Trials and then the anxiety of making a decision having done quite a number on the final days of her summer hols.

So she had gone into the party with a mission, she was going to have fun. The sort of fun you could only have at Hogwarts in limited quantities as there was really only so much alcohol and shenanigans you could get into without being caught by a Professor or called out by Peeves.

She hadn't given much thought to her outfit, beyond pausing to decide if she should bring a bathing suit or not. In the end, she had thrown on her favourite (the one that her mother hated the most, naturally) of her three options, fished out a black t-shirt from the laundry and picked up her favorite short denim skirt from her floor of her room.

As soon as her trainers hit the floor of Harry's suite, Ginny had gone to the bar and scooped up a drink. Judging by the weight in her hand she was halfway through the bottle of whatever Muggle beer she had grabbed at random which was just fine. At any rate they were making her exploring of the suite pretty interesting, Ginny was sure she had just seen one of the Portree reserves wander into a bedroom with a recently graduated Hufflepuff but, really, if Harry was good at something besides quidditch it was probably partying.

Bypassing the Portree/Hufflepuff room, Ginny turned the corner to head back to the stairwell and towards the main floor. Dancing might be a good idea.

Neville had wandered around the bungalow, awestruck for most of the party. He had a fire whiskey mixed with some dark soda that he'd sipped on periodically throughout the night. So busy admiring the surroundings and people watching that he didn't watch where he was going and stumbled backward into someone. Catching himself, barely in time, he turned to apologize.

"I'm sooo sor- Oh hi, Ginny!" His face lit up when he recognized his friend. He looked away, blushing lightly. "Sorry about that."

"Hey Neville!" she replied immediately, brushing off his apology wi th a shrug of her shoulders, "It's no big deal, no damage done." The only real issue was that some of her drink had sloshed out of the bottle and down her hand, but that wasn't anything some soap and water couldn't fix.

"So this is......well, brilliant...." Ginny said, glancing back towards the floor she had just left and then down towards the thumping music from the main. "Maybe I should have went for quidditch after all if you get paid enough for this." Of course Harry was a starter and therefore made loads more than Ginny would as a reserve, but still. Renting this place had probably cost more money than Ginny had ever even thought of in her life, much less seen.

"It really is," Neville glanced at the light fixtures again. They seemed like something that would look incredibly tacky anywhere else, but here, they worked. Everything was so... plush. "Very swank."

He tilted his head slightly at her comment. "I still think there'll be another chance for you in a year."

People kept telling Ginny that. That next year she'd be in a shoe-in for a spot on a team, but there was a feeling in her gut that told her otherwise. That, just maybe, her chance had passed her by. She had returned to Hogwarts with the idea of another year with her friends, another quidditch cup and the sort of attention Harry had gotten from teams. But she could put together a team that was rubbish, they could come in fourth. It could be a disaster.

"I hope so," she told Neville honestly, smiling at him even as she had the urge to run down the stairs and fling herself at the largest bottle of alcohol she could find. "If not, I really might just be a professional bum.' Ginny was really only partially kidding about that.

"What about you though! Tell me how things have been going!"

"Nothing nearly as exciting as professional quidditch," Neville shook his head, though he was smiling. "I'm still mucking about with the apprenticeship with Mr. Benbali. The Fanged Geraniums we've been tending are no fun. One latched onto another apprentice so hard, he had to go to St. Mungo's. Other than that, the guys and I are supposed to be getting a house at some point."

Ginny made a face at that, not because she didn't like hearing about Neville's internship, but because plants weren't really her thing. Some of them were pretty, and she liked having them around but the actual taking care of them and all of that - well, plants tended to die when she was left in charge. There was a reason she didn't go for a NEWT in Herbology. "Mmm, who knew plants were so dangerous?" she asked with a smile, proud that Neville was doing something he really loved. "I'm happy for you though, you like it there and that's all that matters."

She had vaguely heard about the house from Ron, but didn't know anymore than that. The five of them were going to live together which, in her opinion, seemed like a whole lot of people in what was sure to be a very small house. "I thought you'd all be sick of each other by now," she said honestly, "But I'm sure it'll be fun. Chaotic, but fun."

After all, Ginny lived with five boys for most of her life. She understood male induced calamity.

"Definitely will be chaotic, that I don't doubt," Neville laughed. "Thankfully, it's on an open bit of land and the house is big enough that we can have our own space, so it won't be like sharing one room with four other blokes."

It was a job well done, in Ron's opinion. He had gotten word earlier in the day that Puddlemere had accepted him as a junior strategist, which he was infinitely happy about as it wasn't the Kestrels. As much as Ron liked Mr. Potter, that was too much like being given a position, and Ron couldn't in good conscience take it. That was neither here or there, and this party was. It had be be pretty flipping awesome to be able to shell out enough money for this kind of a place, and it made Ron a tiny bit jealous. Not that he would ever admit that, of course.

After hanging around Harry a few minutes he walked away, not wanting to hog his friend all night when they would have plenty of time to do that given the new job. Once he had made his way around the whole bungalow, mostly to see who was there and just how swanky the place was, he had lost sight of Harry and made his way to the bar.

Skye wasn't entirely sure what this party was supposed to be for, just that she'd been invited by Harry himself, and loads of people were going to be there. After an entire summer of looking after small children, it was nice to get to talk to people her own age like this, but mostly she wasn't sure what to say.

She wandered from person to person, group to group, smiling and trying to follow the conversations. But most of them had to do with Quidditch, or boys, or people she didn't know, and by the time she reached the bar, she was disheartened. She'd always been a little slow, sure, but with so much alcohol and hormones flowing, no one seemed to have much patience for her right now.

Upon spotting another familiar face, she lit up. "Ron!" Without giving him much of a choice, she gave him a hug. "You're here! I thought you might be, since you and Harry are mates, but I didn't see you." She beamed. "How are you?"

Ron was reaching out to get his drink when he heard his name. Drink in hand, he saw Skye and grinned at her, finally glad to see a more familiar face than some of the others. During his walkthrough he had smiled at tons of people he had known in school, but he had only known most of them in passing, and as much as he wanted to be social, he didn't feel entirely comfortable in this setting. More than anything, it was the hug that threw ROn, but he accepted it just the same and returned the smile at Skye.

"Wouldn't miss this for the world," he said dryly, knowing that if it hadn't been Harry throwing the party, he wouldn't have even shown up. That was the problem with being a Weasley, sometimes you just got the feeling of not quite fitting in. "I was walking around, didn't see anything to my liking so I came for a drink. I'm good, how are you? Did you get that basket together?"

"Haven't you seen any of your friends here?" she said as she poured them drinks and offered a cup to Ron. "I would've thought loads of people would be lining up to talk to you. They must have already gotten roped into conversations," she said brightly.

Skye knew all too well what not fitting in felt like; she was just far too optimistic to think anyone really meant to exclude her. There were so many people in the world, and naturally they would be busy with others sometimes.

"I bought the basket," she said happily. "It's so big I can sit in it. Michelle's sending us loads of baked goods, and Jack's helping too. Did you want to add anything to the basket?"

At her words, Ron looked Skye up and down. Less because he was trying to size her up, and more because almost as soon as the words left her mouth, he was visualizing her sitting in a gigantic basket full of goodies. It was funny to him, and the corner of his mouth went up in a smile. "That's a big basket," he told her, then imagined a whole flock of owls needing to carry a basket that size. "I'm not sure what I could sent along. I don't really know the Bones family all that well at all."

His other thoughts on the whole topic, he would keep quiet. It wasn't his place to say, and it wasn't going to help anyone in solving it any faster. Ron felt awful for the family, and if it were his own, he would have been devastated.

"I saw Dean, and I think I saw Neville. It might not have been, I just saw the back of the head. Between us, large groups outside of the Gryffindor Commons are a little hard for me."
