Tracey had spent the day running across London on the job. She managed to Apparate back to the Greengrass manor about half an hour before she was supposed to be there to help Daphne with her hair and makeup, then got ready in surprising record time. Grabbing a paper bag as she was leaving the manor, she Disapparated from Cambridge and back to London, a few blocks away from the Royal Ballet School, at 6:05. Glancing down at her watch, she quickened her pace into a very fast walk.
She stumbled slightly as she walked up the stairs to the building in Covenant Garden, breaking one of her heels. She swore quietly under her breath - hopefully there would be a room she could sneak into to fix it magically once she got into the building. Tracey took her heels off for the moment and hurried on inside, not wanting to keep her friend waiting any longer, when she knew Daphne would be freaking out already without Tracey showing up incredibly late.
Tracey smiled brightly at Daphne when she found her and handed over the paper bag immediately, then began the task of trying to get Daphne calmed down enough to let her do her hair and makeup and finish getting dressed. Once Tracey was satisfied, she told Daphne "Merde", the proper way to wish a ballerina good luck without jinxing her or telling her to quite cruelly break a leg. She kissed her cheek, squeezed her hand, quickly repaired her heels, then went to find her seat in the audience, in between Draco and Theodore on the front row.
Daphne's dance was beautiful - the best of all, really - and Tracey heard the tell-tale signs of Theodore swallowing hard and trying not to cry. Tracey shed a few tears herself and leaped onto her feet to applaud her friend. She noticed that Theodore stood as well and clapped quietly, then disappeared down the aisle before Tracey could say anything to him.
Raising an eyebrow slightly at his retreating figure, Tracey continued to clap then slowly made her way through the crowd to where the after party would be held, to wait for her friend to reappear after changing into the gorgeous dress she bought the other day on their shopping trip.
She noticed that a vaguely familiar girl caught Daphne's attention first and hung back, letting the girl have her say.
