Tonks had really, really hoped Bill would come in first so she could shoo him the hell out of there before her mother arrived. But of course, because today was one of those days, her mother got there first. Perfect.
"Mum, I'm fine," said Tonks, wincing as she tried to sit up again. "It's just a bump. I fell in the shower, hit the back of my head on the knob, and knocked myself out. It happens. Healer said I'd be fine."
Of course her mother would act like this - Tonks didn't expect anything less, but it was still frustrating. She glanced toward the door, silently praying Bill had decided to go to work. Not that that was the least bit likely, but the universe owed her some small bit of luck today. "Really, go back to work. I'm fine."
But of course, just as she'd said those words, Bill entered the room, and she winced. This time it had nothing to do with her pounding head. "Mum, you remember Bill," she said with a sigh. "Bill, you remember my mum."
