Tonks had had plenty of falls in her lifetime - down the stairs, out of a tree, and one memorable time, she'd fallen out of a window. She was used to bumps and bruises, but actually falling unconscious was a new one.
She slowly came to in a hospital room with a healer she vaguely recognised hovering over her. Blinking, she tried to sit up, but an agonising pain in the back of her head made her groan and lay back down.
"I wouldn't recommend getting up just yet," said the healer, who was casting some sort of spell. "You've had a nasty fall, and it's best to wait until you're all patched up."
Tonks mumbled an obscenity under her breath. A fall. When had she--
The memory came rushing back to her, and she swore louder this time, sitting up despite the pain. Bill. The shower. And now she was at St Mungo's, where her mother worked, and--
She only managed to sit up for about three seconds before her vision went white, and she groaned again, laying back down. Brilliant. Just bloody brilliant.
"Told you to lay down," said the healer gently, and she offered her a pain potion, which Tonks downed. So much for keeping this from her mother. And at second glance, she realised she was also wearing nothing but one of those terrible flimsy hospital gowns. Not even knickers. Perfect.
The pain diminished, and the healer stepped back, tucking her wand away. "You do have a concussion, though it doesn't look like there's any long-term damage. The pain potion should help, and I've healed the worst of it. You'll feel a bit woozy for the rest of the day, but other than that, you should be right as rain. I've already sent a nurse to let your mother know, and she should be down here any minute."
Another groan, and this time it had nothing to do with the pain. This was a nightmare. "The--the man who came in with me--is he still here?"
"I assume so," said the healer. "I'll go tell him you're awake. Do you want me to send him in?"
Tonks nodded grimly, and the healer sent a nurse out to lead Bill in. A few more instructions later, the healer left, leaving Tonks to stare at the wall and silently curse herself. So much for keeping Bill to herself for a while.
