"Just a bit more and then you won't be thirsting, darling."
Stephen Cornfoot spoke to his plants. He whispered sweetly to his flowers and shared jokes with his vines and he didn't really care if anyone thought he was nutters for doing it because his plants thrived, thank you very much. It was on that mildly overcast, gloomy, Thursday afternoon that he took to speaking kindly to a set of hanging Begonia pots that were not enjoying the cool weather at all.
"And never you mind the rain to come, it won't be enough," it was going to rain tomorrow but he didn't think it'd be enough for the plants, he didn't trust the Prophet's weather guide. Hell, he didn't trust their horoscopes either. Whoever was in charge of their predictions happened to be off way too much for comfort, though Stephen had never gotten the nerve to write the paper about it.
His wand continued to sprout a steady stream of water as he glanced to his right and noted another soul slowing down as the neared his shop entrance. He watched them a moment then cut off the spell as he turned toward them.
"'Allo, wanting a spot of tea?"
