Padma went easily into the hug, arms wrapping tight around his waist and anchoring him to her. She raised slightly on her toes, so she could press her forehead into the crook of his neck. Her hands rubbed slow circles over the fabric that covered his back, before her fingers settled and clenched slowly in the fabric. She wasn't sure who she was comforting, Anthony or herself, but it calmed her for a moment to just hold someone and be held.
She turned her head to tuck herself further into him, and didn't really know how long either of them stood like that, though realistically she knew it couldn't have been long. He had to get to Mandy, and that was important to her as well. Anthony had known Terry and Mandy better than he ever had, especially in the last few years. Padma had only met the twins once or twice, over holidays, but they'd been so young. Anthony would know how to take care of them right now, and he needed to go while the food was still warm.
It was that thought that had her pulling away. Her hands smoothed slowly around his sides as she stepped back, and she gently smoothed out any wrinkles she might have caused to his shirt. She continued smoothing his shirt out over his chest until she reached his shoulders. She cupped his face gently then, raising on her toes again just a bit to press her lips, chaste and reassuring, to his. She didn't have words just then, only quiet agreement.
"I'll see you soon," she said in a quiet voice, meeting his gaze once more. "You should go before it gets too late," she added, giving him an attempt at a smile, though it was more of a simple pulling up of her lips and didn't reach her eyes.
