Padma grinned over at Anthony before she scooped another bite of fried rice onto her chopsticks and into her mouth. Gods, he really was the best. She glanced down at the kitten curled up on top of the blanket covering their laps, scritching it lightly behind the ears as it purred away in the little nook between them. Kitten therapy was exactly what she needed after the day she'd had. Her hand was still a bit sore, and she felt horrible for bickering with Michael—because whether he liked it or not, she knew that's what it had been. She supposed that was the reason Lavender wasn't home just then.
Padma glanced back down at the container in her hand, poking at the rice a bit. Now she'd just gone and made it worse. Lavender wasn't home at all—and while yes, she was glad Lavender and Michael weren't sneaking around the flat, she had hoped they weren't going to avoid her completely when they wanted to be around each other—not that she thought the things they were likely doing together were things she wanted to see! Still, she didn't want them to think they couldn't be in the flat just because of her—not that she wanted to hear them! Ugh. It was all just so very confusing.
Padma leaned over and rested her forehead on Anthony's shoulder, sighing in one heavy breath. She was grateful for Anthony. He'd been so kind since last Monday. (It was hard for her to imagine that it had only been a week back!) So much had happened already. Thankfully, Gus Pye had healed her arm not a few hours before, or else she might be feeling even more bedraggled than she already felt.
Luckily for her, she had a friend sitting beside her who didn't seem to care if she were branded or broken, in a worse mood than a betterone, in bright yellow pajama bottoms and a Puddlemere sweatshirt. He still brought her kittens and chinese food and great, big hugs, and that made her smile. "Thank you," she said sincerely, lifting her head to look back up at him, a small smile gracing her lips.
