Blaise stood briefly and reached for a framed picture that sat on the mantle of the fireplace and handed it to Daphne with a smile. Ae-cha during one of her weekend visits had been playing dress up with his sister and the camera had captured the two of them as the modeled for him. His tall caramel skinned sister and his small lithe daughter with hair just like her mother, stood arm in arm dressed as if attending a ball. Ae-cha twirled for the camera, her infectious laugh had made all of them laugh that day. His heart clenched with love and he remembered in that moment of pride why he would always fight to protect her. "She is so big and yet so small, she is definitely her mother's daughter." he smiled knowing she had far more spirit than he could ever claim.
He watched Daphne as she fidgeted in the chair and poured her a small amount of whiskey and a double for himself. He had caught a bit of a chill returning from Italy and needed the warmth. "It is scary." he said finally. "Hard. I never thought I could be a father to anyone." he tossed back his double shot and set the glass down. "But from the moment I laid eyes on her, I knew I would do anything to keep her safe and happy." he was quiet, "When have we ever been too young, Daph? We were forced to be adults early because of the bloody war, I think fourth and fifth year were the closest thing to normal I ever had." he watched her as she sat across from him and his gaze lingered on her pale face. "I have missed you Daphne."
