Both eyebrows rose and his mouth twisted in amusement. "I have to assume that question is rhetorical, my dear, as we both know that the pinnacle of my life since Hogwarts is my supposed freedom," he said dryly, without anger. "But in more recent days, I'd say yes, things have been looking up in some manner of speaking. Much of my time is taken up by my daughter."
And his writing, and his affair with his houseguest, but neither of those were topics for dinner conversation with a casual acquaintance.
