Mandy met his gaze and took a deep breath. She picked up her plate and moved to slide into the chair closest to his. She just wanted to soak up some of his strength before she was forced to go deal with the issue of saving her belongings. She held the fork loosely and pushed her eggs around the plate. Setting aside the fork, she picked up a piece of the crumpet and ate it slowly. “They are going to try to claim the property but Terry and I were one step ahead of them. It doesn’t belong to us, Anthony Goldstein owns it.” The smile was anything but humourous. “We knew it would be bad, we just didn’t know how bad.” She winced when the smile reminded her of the bruise on her cheek and she raised a hand to touch the discoloured area. She hated the memory of the vile hitwizard striking her when she refused to answer his disgusting suggestions of trading sexual favours for her release.
