Mandy had bathed and cleaned up Aidan before finding her way around the kitchen to make breakfast. She preferred to cook the muggle way and often spent hours in her own kitchen cooking for her family and friends. She gave the girls tasks to do and had Aidan setting the table when she heard Draco in the doorway. Looking over her shoulder at him from where she stood at the counter, she grinned widely. She had taken a pair of his jeans and transfigured the size to fit her, the shirt she had made small size adjustments to and still was a few sizes too big. She was comfortable, her blonde hair hung in curls down her back and she was barefoot. Other than the events of the previous evening, she felt incredibly domestic and the thought was a bit sobering. She had no idea why she felt so comfortable around him considering they had been friends less than six months, it felt right and she wasn’t going to question it.
“The girls thought chocolate was an appropriate breakfast, I thought poached eggs, crumpets, and ham was more appropriate.” She smiled as she carried the food to the table. She hadn’t realised how hungry she was until the food was finished. Sitting opposite of Draco at the table she served the kids first and then waited for Draco to take some of the food. She had made more than enough food for everyone and she hoped Draco had an appetite.
Eating quietly, listening to the children chatter, she watched Draco.. Her mind was in turmoil and she wanted to talk about what was happening but limited it to a general explanation that the twins would understand (yes, daddy was gone for awhile, he was helping people who needed him somewhere but was always thinking of the twins, he loved them very much). Alex listened to her but Mandy could tell by her expression that she would have more questions later when they were alone. She tried to explain that the Ministry had made an awful mistake taking them in the night and that Mandy would never let it happen again.
Setting aside her fork, she realised her appetite was gone as she watched them finish up their food. Accepting hugs and kisses from both of them, she sent them off to play with Alyssa once they had finished their food. She waited until they were gone and looked at Draco, her expression fairly somber as she thought about everything that she needed to do for the day.
