Draco was glad for the distraction, although it occurred to him that someday he might have to put boundaries between his sleeping space and Alyssa’s and teach her to knock. It was something that had never been needed, as his flat in Paris was an efficiency, and here the nursery was almost a part of his bedroom. It hadn’t occurred to him there might be a need for that level of privacy in his life, and he had been content with that. But Mandy’s lips on his awoke again the thoughts that had been flickering in and out of his mind since he woke with her in his arms. He was sure he had a bemused smile as he looked at the children, and he opened his arms in welcome and Alyssa swarmed up onto the bed.
Alyssa crawled across Draco with morning greetings to her Papa, then settled in between him and Mandy with a terribly serious look in her pale eyes. She spoke in French, at first, telling them that they had eaten the pain au chocolat because they were hungry. But she paused then, and in careful English asked, “Are you all right?”
