She let out a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding when she heard his familiar voice carry through the house. His house just hadn't seemed right when it was just her and Michael there. It lacked... Steve. Quite as he might be he filled it with a certain sense of security for Eva. Even if he didn't think being around him was anything close to secure at the moment.
Eva slipped her coat off and left it in the entry. She wasn't bearing gifts this time around, the freezer was already full and she was doing her best to save any and all money she had for the weekend. Oh and her utilities bill. That too. Eva made the familiar path to the sitting room and stepped slowly through the doorway, almost shyly. Something Eva never was.
"Hi," she added, fingers curling around the wood of the jamb. "If I come over there and give you a hug is it going to hurt you?"
