The past week or so was a bit of a blur for Steve. He'd grown frustrated of remembering nothing, so he stopped trying. Anything important, Michael would tell him. Like the fact it was Rose who'd rescued him, and it was Rose who watched the horses. Or the fact that Eva had stopped by. To see him. In a hospital. Steve knew she hated them; hell, who didn't hate hospitals? But she'd come. To see him. That meant more than Steve could ever express.
He hadn't yet made his was to the freezer. He imagined whatever was in there tasted fantastic, but he really didn't have an appetite. His brain was far too consumed with worry. For Michael, his dad, his mum, Eva, Rose, anyone who was friends with him, and anyone who shopped at the store. These people were getting out of hand.
Steve didn't hear the key in the door, but he did hear Eva's voice. Security had never really been an issue for Steve. He lived in the middle of no where. Half the time he didn't even lock his doors, until his mum had come and placed a charm upon the house to make the doors self-lock. After that, Steve had handed out keys to almost all of his friends. His house was just a place.
"Eva?" Steve called from one of the sitting rooms. Before him lay heaps of receipts he didn't care to go through, so Eva would be a welcome distraction. "In here."
