There really was quite a bit of red out. Nearly everything in bakery display was either red or pink or white. It if weren't for the decided lack of gold, Luna would have thought that Gryffindors everywhere were secretly celebrating some spectacular holiday. Perhaps it was Godric Gryffindor's birthday. She wondered if that meant Harry would be running late.
Luna had come prepared. She always did. There was no telling, these days, when someone might accidentally get snatched up for some sort of interrogation on the way to a perfectly harmless tea. But the Ministry had never been so terribly preoccupied with accommodating other people's schedules. At any rate, she had a notebook and an array of coloured pencils spread around across her little table. A picture of a tooth fairy, which had been charmed to be still both for the Statute and to get him to hold still properly, was leaning against her cup of tea. Sketching was far more difficult than painting, in Luna's opinion. Pencil lines seemed so permanent, so firmly etched, and not at all pliant.
The long stack of bracelets she wore up her left arm jangled a bit as she erased a line along the wing. For her own part, she didn't much mind seeing her brand, but she had come to the conclusion that it made other people uncomfortable. Especially Harry. She really wished it didn't so weigh on him, and part of her regretted having asked him to do it, but she'd never been one to try to force understanding on anyone. And Harry, she was quite sure, already had enough to worry about.
So she picked up a green pencil, opting to focus on shading instead of structure for a while.
