That was it. That was it, right there. He was only one person. What did anyone expect him, alone, to do? Even with the entire DA, Harry didn't know where to strike. Kill Diggory? The man would become a martyr and those who truly did follow him - who outnumbered those who opposed him - would lead an even more fervent hunt of those who disagreed with them. It comforted him to see that at least Ginny was beginning to understand.
"I wanted to run, Gin. I can't tell you how much I wanted to run. The worst bit is... I'd be a fool to think it's the worst thing they would ever have me do." And when it came down to it, when Harry was forced to do something he truly could not do - kill - ...it will all have been for nothing.
Harry shook his head, attempting to leave those thoughts behind. "Everything I do at the Ministry is watched. I'm detained after every shift and interrogated for at least an hour. It's like they think I'm guilty already, that I'm helping STs... do something. Leave the country, or. ...Something. Percy says..." Harry looked around, but he knew it was for nothing; Hermione had checked the place, as had he, and it had at least appeared clean. "Percy says I'm being watched. Here. That there's someone stationed outside, that they may be using extendable ears to spy on me. I haven't found anything... holes or... and my wards are still up, I haven't found any holes in them, or alterations or anything." He shrugged. Maybe Percy was wrong, and maybe he wasn't. All he knew was that if Percy was right, he'd be going to the Ministry right quick and it wouldn't be as an employee. "He says they're always watching me."
