What would she have done? She couldn't have done it, she knew that. Ginny didn't think she could have been the one standing there holding the iron, whatever it cost her. Whatever it cost her friends. She'd have broken first.
"I know what I would've done," she said finally. "I would have run. I'd have been caught and branded, but I know my own limits, and I couldn't have handled doing that to anyone." Just the thought of it made her feel sick. "But I don't know what I would have had you do."
She paused a moment, collecting her thoughts. "I wanted to think you could have done something. But I know you're only one person." She hesitated a few moments before adding, "And Percy told me you're being watched. How bad is it?"
