"It's not a problem at all," Oliver said with a smile. Really, the more he read in the journals and the news, the more disturbing he felt the world was becoming. He couldn't just bury his hand in the sand anymore, much as he wanted to try. It was all just so confusing... He didn't understand how things had twisted so violently out of control. One moment everything had been so bright and shining and now that the truth was of it was revealed, it was all horrifying.
In any case, he didn't think it was fair that Hermione should have to worry about her safety just when walking home. It didn't help he supposed, that her departure from Harry's had been so public. It had been shocking and Oliver hadn't really understood what could have happened. He hadn't known Hermione well when they were in school together, but he had known that Harry had valued her friendship and it had been visible to the entire wizarding community that they had been close for a long time.
"How've you been?" Oliver asked, figuring that it was innocent enough of a question that Hermione could interpret it however she chose.
