Who: Padma Patil and Adrian Pucey When: August 29, 2005; Monday evening Where: Padma's parents/grandparents home in Birmingham What: BFFling; Padma and Adrian discuss living arrangements they've made Status: In Progress Rating: low
Padma set her purse down on the bureau in her old bedroom in the east wing of her childhood home, the wing she'd shared with her parents growing up. Her grandparents still lived in the west wing, where Adrian had been staying in his very own guest room. Padma didn't think this placement was coincedental. The room was the furthest possible bedroom from her own, and she had to pass both her parents' and grandparents' bedrooms to reach Adrian's. Padma changed into some pajama bottoms and a tee before walking towards Adrian's room. She wrapped her arms arond herself to stave off the chill that had been creeping further into the manor each night.
She knew her mother knew she snuck into Adrian's bedroom some nights after dark, but she'd made a point to have a very pointed conversation with her mother, one that ended on her swearing against Parvati's life that she wasn't sleeping with the man staying in their home and subsequently disgracing her family name. Her mother didn't quite understand the concept of being best friends with a male, not even after Padma had consistently surrounded herself with male best friends. Still, Padma made a point to always leave Adrian's door cracked open when she was inside.
She raised her hand to Adrian's door now, gently knocking even as she cracked the door open. For two women who were convinced their was something untoward happening between the two of them, they kept Adrian's room full of little luxuries—food left waiting for him all the time, fresh linens, and new Quidditch magazines from her father (left for Adrian before her father even read them.) They made his bed anytime he left the room, and they were certainly spoiling him. She tried not to leave Adrian alone with them too much, especially not in the evening when her father and grandfather were home from work at the shops. Her father was in hog heaven with Adrian around—a player for the Falmouth Falcons in his home. When her father was in the room with Adrian, it was all Quidditch all the time, and questions on Adrian's hypotheses for the season, comparisons between Falmouth's players and other teams, would Adrian being playing more soon? Padma knew the latter was a sore subject for her friend, so intervened as much as possible, but it pleased her to see her father so lively and happy speaking to someone else. He'd been far too introverted and reserved since his branding.
"A?" she called out, poking her head into the room.
