Nott, I
To enter the plea, Theodore had to stand, and he wasn't sure he was quite capable of it. He was afraid and embarrassed, and he knew that at least a few of his friends were here, watching, waiting to see what he'd do. They knew he must be innocent and yet in a moment he would -- he would...
He would lie. There was no way to deny what he intended to do. He had never especially valued the court system even when working with it, and now he would lie, in part to save himself and in part to save someone else. What a bizarre turn of events this had been.
Supporting himself with one shaking hand on the chair, Theodore stood straight up, and, despite his better judgement, glanced into the crowd. He saw Millicent, upset, of course, as he knew she would be. Astoria, too, he saw. And Tracey. He looked back in a heartbeat, almost unable to bear the way his heart was pounding.
"I would like to enter a plea of guilty. To the charges of providing information to those who would do harm to our government." Lying was easy, but Theodore could feel the surprise, disgust, and anger radiating from the crowd in the gallery. He barely refrained from sitting back down before it was time.
