Amos smiled warmly at Zacharias as he thanked him. "You're welcome, lad." He drank some of his wine, pointing out a finger to Zacharias as he swallowed, "And remind me to discuss with you how best your reveal as a Ministry supporter should be handled."
He turned to Robbie, who's lips spread into a nervous smile. "How do you feel about becoming Senior Undersecretary to the Minister?"
That was a really important position, he thought dumbly, and he didn't immediately answer in his surprise. He was also very aware that someone that had previously held that position was Dolores Umbridge, and that was a seat he'd never thought he'd be sitting in. "Um, are you sure?" he asked, knowing he was being rude and ungrateful, but surely this wasn't real. Robbie had been an Obliviator, that was what he'd trained as. The position as Assistant to the Minister had been a way of helping Diggory and being close to him. But Senior Undersecretary held more political power; they were responsible for many things. Though he'd always thought of climbing the career ladder, it had been with a less bleak future in mind. Most of his friendships were already tense due to his support for Diggory. This had the potential of pushing them over the edge.
Not to mention his already well-frayed nerves. And would this promotion mean he'd be more targeted by the terrorists?
"Of course I'm sure," Amos replied with a chuckle, refilling his glass and offering the boys more, though Robbie didn't push his forward to receive any, feeling drunk enough as it was. "You've a promising career ahead of you," he said leaning forward and clapping him on Robbie's broad shoulder. "We all do."
Nodding and adopting a pleased face, his brain kicking into action that he really ought to show gratitude for this, Robbie held his hand out to shake Amos' firmly. "Thank you, sir. I won't let you down."
