Who: Adrian and Tanner Pucey, Padma Patil What: Escape, Punishment, Healing, Bonding Where: Barn in Great Doddington, later Padma's grandparents When: Saturday, August 13, 2005, early morning Rating: high for violence Status: in progress
Padma awoke to noises she was more than over having to hear—the sound of fists on flesh, the vocal agony of pain, the insanity in a madman's voice. Except this time, Tanner Pucey's words and wrath weren't directed at her, or Angelina. Padma vaguely recalled Angelina getting away. The elder Pucey brother had been pissed, and taken out his rage on the remaining two of his once three captives. Everything was black after that.
Now, though, Padma cracked open a swollen eye and peered across the dim morning light flitering in through the barn. She made out the vague shape of Tanner bent over Adrian's prone form. She shifted and tried to sit up. She couldn't stop the other man, and it killed her, but maybe she could get his attention, turn some of the pain on herself. She didn't know how long he had been at it with Adrian, but she knew the brunt of the elder man's anger was directed at his younger brother, and Padma was damned and determined to shift the direction of his wrath.
But when Padma shifted to sit up, she realized she was holding up her weight with her palms—her unbound wrists. They had been behind her back for a majority of the night, but the spell must have faded and Tanner hadn't noticed. Padma shifted them back behind her in case he looked, but while his back was turned, she started to look for the hoodie he'd tossed off earlier, and the pocket where she'd seen him stash her wand, and Adrian and Angelina's.
