It had been stupid of her to send the owl to Bastian, that much was clear. But she just had to prove to Eva that she was wrong, that he was a good man. What she hadn't thought of is how it would sound to him and how rude it really was to ask. Stupid her, always pushing people away. He had been friendly, and charming and someone she was actually starting to like. It had been hard for her after her mother passed, even harder since Amelia. Susan had a habit of pushing people away. After all, that's what had ended her previous relationships with any man. She buried herself in work at the gallery and her studio. Not only to forget about the world around her but to put walls up between her and them. If she didn't let anyone in, there was no way for heartbreak and abandonment. But she was tired of hiding. It dawned on her that her birthday was approaching and that part of her life was already over. She needed to finally grow up. She saw her friends like Dean having families and children. Hell even Lav, even though it wasn't planned. But it was something to hang on too.
Susan had paced her apartment for hours after his last owl. Though he may have wanted contact to stop there, Susan didn't like to give up easily. Thoughts tangled in her head and the wine she was drinking probably didn't help to make her think any clearer. But she was sure of two things. One, she had a good time with Bastian. Susan couldn't remember the last time she had felt so excited, so alive just to be talking to someone again. Maybe it was his charming smile, or maybe she was just a sucker for tall guys but he grew on her. Two, she hadn't been very nice to him. And if nothing else she could apologize to his face rather than once again through owl. Finally settling on what she would do, she made her way up the stairs to her bed and slept for a few hours until she had to get up for a long day of work at the gallery.
She didn't get off until 5:15, though it was supposed to be a bit earlier. Usually she didn't mind getting off late from work, but she had to find out where Bastian lived in the first place and it was probably going to take some time. Frustrated, she apparated straight into Hogsmeade. Deciding where to try for him first was going to be the challenge. If she lived in Hogsmaede, she decided the place she would hang around most would have to serve the alcohol. Heading into the Three Broomsticks, she asked around for a few moments until she came across an older gentleman who pointed her in the proper direction.
Walking back through the village to Honeydukes, she took the staircase in the back just like the man had told her. Coming to a door, she pulled her light jacket tighter around her body and knocked. "Please be home, please be home," she muttered to herself. Of course, she still wasn't one hundred percent sure what she was going to say to him if or when he opened the door. But she trusted in herself to let the right words spill out.
