WHO: Susan Bones and Bastian Dunstan
WHEN: Thursday, July 21, 2005, afternoon
WHERE: a little tea shop in Diagon Alley
WHAT: introductions
RATING: PG
Bas was looking forward to his tea appointment with Miss Bones much more than he realised. Yes, canceling their original date after her experience in the protest was necessary but Bastian's wait from Monday to Thursday took longer than he could have imagined. He'd tucked Simone away with Mrs Flume and all the Honeyduke's chocolate she could ply on the little girl. Soon Bastian would have to speak to Pansy about her school. That couldn't be avoided or ignored any longer.
Apparating to Diagon, Dunstan stood outside, checking his watch when he realised he was early. It seemed ridiculous to stand in the street so he went inside and situated himself at a table where he could clearly see the door. He was remiss not to ask for a description of his companion. There was nothing to guess what Miss Bones might look like by the pleasant and helpful personality she presented in the journals. Personality did not translate to hair colour or height or build most of the time.
As the door opened, Bas was already starting to rise to his feet when he paused at the witch just inside the door. Hag would have been a much better term. The poor woman even had the accompanying and expected wart on her nose. With a quick prayer and a hesitant smile, Roger watched the suspect drop off a few flyers about Hag Rights in the Current Political Climate before she turned and exited just as quickly. It was with some relief that she was not his tea companion.
A few more minutes passed and the shop door opened again. Unfortunately it was impossible to tell if this was a witch or a wizard by the way their hair was flung in front of their face. All Bastian could clearly denote was that they wore a Weird Sisters tee-shirt and held their denims together with muggle safety pins at the hips and knees. It was a he, he realised when the wizard spoke and again, Bastian rubbed the back of his neck in relief.
Who knew social engagements could be so harrowing? He was reconsidering this idea entirely when the door opened a third time and he caught sight of a pretty mane of ginger hair. Surprising but not revolting. Not compared to her predecessors across the threshold. Catching her eye, he slowly rose, curious. "Miss Bones?"
