FALMOUTH -- In a massive upset for Falmouth today that ended in disaster, the Chudley Cannons pulled in a victory over the Cornish team, ending an unusually short game 210-110 with their capture of the snitch. For the second time this season, the Cannons' seeker, Demelza Robins, led the team to victory to the shock of some and anger of others. As faithful readers of this column will recall, the Cannons' previous win against Falmouth earlier this season led to accusations of cheating against the historically unlucky team -- who remain poor in goals despite a phenomenal increase in snitch-captures (8 of 15) -- but a full inquiry by the Ministry of Magic's Department of Magical Games and Sports put any legal doubts to rest. Today, however, suspicion and shock led to violence as angry words between the teams' seekers resulted in a physical altercation. Terence Higgs (Falmouth seeker) and Demelza Robins fell to fighting mere minutes after the teams touched down, and a few shoves became a full brawl as members from both teams became involved. Quidditch hooliganism soon gripped the entire stadium as angry and excited fans began shoving, shouting obscenities, and throwing jinxes across the pitch, resulting in injuries to spectators and quidditch players alike. The Prophet has not yet been informed how many were wounded, but we will report as soon as figures become available. Team coaches were not available for comment at the time of this printing. Falmouth remains fourth in the League, while the Cannons sit dead last. |
