She hated that she believed him so easily. Hated that she wanted to forgive him and not stand her ground on principle. Anyone else would have been punched them in the nose and she'd be done with them. The problem was that his idea of protecting people was the line of thought that put a hot brand in her arm. Was the line of thought that got her dragged in for questioning and treated like a monster. She knew people were dying and she was against the ill placed bombs but she didn't know what to trust. She hated being indecisive.
"You say that and I want to believe you but I can't. Not fully. Don't you get it? Fuck it, Robbie. I believe you think that but--Fuck." She shock her head as he said he didn't think it would hurt her. It was a violation of her life. He had stolen moments from her. Thoughts and feelings without her permission. "It's stealing memories! It's taking away a bit of her brain. That's always damage, Robbie."
"And if they asked you to? If they demanded you to do it? Would you ask me over and take away my memories?" That was the problem. She needed to know that their friendship meant more to him than a command. That he was still a person that chose honor and friendship over a government that was determined to destroy the people it feared. She needed to know that she wasn't stupid for fighting for him. The glimmer of wetness in his eyes gave her hope but it wasn't enough.
