"C'mon, Marcus." Tracey gave her new brother-in-law a pointed look and rolled her eyes. "What makes you think you're so important I would waste my time gossiping about you?" It wasn't the same thing as coming right out and saying she wouldn't but Tracey was rather prickly that he seemed sure enough to give her a warning against it.
A little thrill went through her when Flint paid the compliment. She could never explain it and it likely all stemmed from his prowess on the Hogwarts pitch when she was at such an impressionable age, but Marcus could do no wrong. This didn't change that.
A shrug, which she desperately wanted to seem nonchalant, raised her shoulders. "What's the point after I'm pregnant? The deed will be done. He'll have his heir. I suppose we'll only have to see each other around the baby, or because of him once he's born." The words tasted like gravel in her mouth. Then, as expected, she turned the conversation back to him. "So hopefully my end of the bargain will be fulfilled soon enough and you two can get back to whatever thing you have going." Which she wasn't sure she wanted to know more about but she still opened her mouth. "Isaac likes men and women? I guess all the conditions of our contract make more sense now. What about you? Same thing? Where Isaac got the idea? Open, arranged marriage?" Tracey had to wonder how much Marcus influenced Isaac.
