Felicitas Gamp Arrested for Murder of NPPCAV Head
LONDON -- In a quick turn around, even for the esteemed Auror Office, Department of Magical Law Enforcement Officials issued a statement late this morning that the murderer of Algernon Avery, self-professed head of the Non-Purist Pureblood Coalition Against Violence (NPPCAV) has been apprehended and charged with murder. Working through the night, Aurors and Hitwizards alike questioned the suspect, Felicitas Gamp, a spinster from Norwich, who is rumoured to have refused offers of legal counsel. ________________

Miss Gamp, who was branded as a Suspected Terrorist early last year for a violent attack on a Muggleborn and her Muggle fiancé, was traced almost immediately when her tracked wand set off flags in the Department for the Regulation of Purebloods. Though Aurors would not describe the nature of the spells used during the murder of Mr Avery, a source inside the Ministry described the attack as 'particularly heinous' and likened it to the grisly assault committed by Miss Gamp in 2004.
The issue of the motive is a matter on which the Department of Magical Law Enforcement could not speculate. Auror Morag MacDougal, who led the investigation and ultimate interrogation, commented that "unfortunately, there are cases where we can't get a motive. If Miss Gamp doesn't want to speak, that's her right." It may be her right, but the Wizengamot has tried cases without motive before, and if our sources within the Ministry are correct, Miss Gamp could be facing the Dementor's Kiss, whether she speaks or not. DMLE officials assured us that the evidence was quite damning, especially after Miss Gamp admitted to being in possession of her wand at the time of the murder.
Minister for Magic Amos Diggory, still bound to his bed with illness, was available for comment through his aids. He asked the question many have been asking themselves lately: "If Purebloods cannot even keep peace among themselves, how can they be expected to be a part of a peaceable Magical Britain?" Indeed, Minister.
Roger Davies, a lieutenant in the Magical Army of Britain, seemed sceptical about whether this would be a one time occurrence, saying "It's expected they'd turn on one of their own. They're power mad. Who knows what their goals really are? I wouldn't be surprised to see more unrest from them." Let's hope not.
