"Careful, you're making them sound more and more like humans at every turn." Astoria moved her way up to the fence, angling her head to watch the horses as they fed on the grass. He was being overly careful with her, which she appreciated. Still, as she watched them act so peacefully she felt a bit silly for being so afraid.
She had gone too far, she knew it as soon as his expression changed. She hadn't thought it to be prying but perhaps it was a sensitive subject. She knew he couldn't ride like he once could, financial concerns and all that. She kicked herself mentally, resolving herself to bring this back around.
She wanted to ask why he was so late to walk but held her tongue. "I have a funny feeling that you found riding easier. You must ride today, even if I don't. I insist," she said, pulling on his sleeve for emphasis. "And you know how stubborn I can be so save yourself some time by agreeing now."
