Theodore followed her glance to two buckets and a small bench of equipment set outside the pasture and nodded, keeping his hand at her back as they approached the horses. They were grazing and seemed fairly indifferent to two strangers, both good signs.
"If you take to a horse, we can go shopping for proper attire," he said airily. His touch was affectionate, but ultimately served a greater purpose; if she was nervous or anxious, he needed to be able to feel it to keep her from harm. Horses were very attuned to body language and emotions, and even docile creatures as these could be spooked.
"We can start here," he said, guiding her away from the gate and to the supplies. Background was important, even for the most casual of riders, and though he didn't expect Astoria to do any real manual labour, he valued the importance of some of it.
Setting his jacket and tie carefully over the wooden boundaries between human and horse, he guided her to the pasture fence, so she could just look, for now.
